Back in 2009, when we built and managed an ad network product, EqWorks, (formerly EQAds), reached out to build our first RTB bidder to integrate with Doubleclick. Our teams took on the challenge of this new programmatic space to build a rules engine that would drive optimized buying on doubleclick exchange. We overcame numerous challenges of a typical high volume low latency application, bid optimization and payload compression using google protocol buffers.
